Women's Basketball Hosts USA Olympic Team
Oct. 8, 1999 Stanford women’s basketball opens it’s 1999-2000 season Nov. 1 at 7:30 at Maples Pavilion in an exhibition game against the USA Women’s Basketball Team. The USA Team is comprised of WNBA stars such as Chamique Holdsclaw, Lisa Leslie, Cynthia Cooper and Yolanda Griffith, who will represent the United States in the 2000 summer Olympics in Sydney. Stanford returns 11 members from last year’s team, including 1998-99 First Team All-Pac-10 selection Milena Flores and Honorable Mention Preseason All-American Lindsey Yamasaki. In the 1998-99 season, the Cardinal went 18-12 overall, 14-4 in Pac-10 Conference play and made their 12th straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The first 1,000 people in the door will receive an S2K Beanie Doll. Fans who wear a red shirt for the special “Red Wave” promotion will get into the game for three dollars.
